The Peterborough Hub is the digital doorway to the Spurgeons children's centres in Peterborough. On this page you will find details for your local children's centres, the types of services they provide and how to get in touch. Spurgeons also provides outreach services in many local community venues. You can find out more about outreach services by contacting your nearest children's centre listed below.

What are Spurgeons children’s centres?

Spurgeons children’s centres are places where parents of children aged 0–5 years can share the challenges and joys of parenthood. The centres offer a range of activities and support services to help you with all aspects of parenting, helping you make sure your child gets the best start in life.

Services offered from our children’s centres include:

  • Information, advice and support for parents of young children aged 0-5 years

  • Advice on how to access childcare provided by nurseries or childminders

  • Family support services

  • Access to children’s health services, including midwives and health visitors

  • Support for children with special needs

  • Links with Jobcentre Plus, local training providers, further and higher education institutions

  • Messy play, rhyme time sessions, stay and play sessions

Services for toddlers:

  • Parenting programmes and advice to help you understand your child’s needs and build your confidence as a parent

  • Fun activities to do with your toddler such as messy play, rhyme time and stay and play sessions.

  • Some centres have outside play areas where children can explore and learn

  • Advice on the different types of childcare available in your area

  • Access to free early education for two year olds whose families receive particular benefits

  • Information about free early education for three or four year olds

  • Help with gaining qualifications and considering employment opportunities and benefits

Services if you are pregnant or have a baby:

  • Advice and support on what to expect when you have a new baby

  • Help with infant feeding

  • Baby massage classes

  • Fun activities to do with your baby, such as music and rhyme

Services for children with additional needs:

  • Spurgeons children’s centres provide support to parents and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

  • Each children’s centre can provide information on Peterborough’s SEND Local Offer

  • Some centres hold support groups


Dads are really important to children’s lives and are welcome to come along and enjoy all the services provided by our children’s centres.
