Spurgeons’ Lead for Children and Young People recognised for support given to families affected by Domestic Abuse and Violence

Spurgeons’ Children and Young Persons Lead, Kelly from the Norwich Connect project has been named as the Safelives Star of the Month for providing support to families affected by Domestic Abuse and Violence. A great achievement of national recognition for professionals who have gone above and beyond in their work.

Kelly joined the Spurgeons Norwich Connect project just over 2 years ago when it was launched and works with young people affected by domestic abuse to keep them safe and learn about healthy relationships. She also supports parents to help them build better relationships with their children.

Kelly’s colleagues say that: “Since Sept 2018, Kelly has proved a key and pivotal role in launching the Children and Young People’s work within Norwich Connect. She helped set this up from nothing (we only had laptops and a bare office when we started)…Her knowledge and experience have been key in helping the Norwich Connect pilot to be a success. She is able to build rapport which clients considered “hard to reach”, provides challenge to Social Care around how best to keep the children safe, helps parents to understand the impact of DA and provides a solution focused approach.”

A huge well done to goes out to Kelly from all of us at Spurgeons for this achievement and recognition
