What is physical abuse?

Physical abuse is the bodily harm of another person. 

Some of the signs of physical abuse

If you notice any of the following or similar signs in another person, they may be being physically abused:

  • Signs of injury such as bruises or marks- these might be healing or fresh
  • Difficult explaining injuries
  • Explanations for injuries that seem unlikely
  • Uneasiness around the perpetrator.

  • Hitting
  • Kicking
  • Spitting
  • Punching
  • Slapping
  • Burning
  • Scalding
  • Biting
  • Restraining
  • Cutting
  • Stabbing
