Binge eating disorder causes sufferers to consume a large amount of food, which can then cause them to feel uncomfortable. Sufferers can feel that their eating habits are out of control, and may feel guilty or ashamed after a 'binge'.

What is binge eating?

Binge eating causes the sufferer to consume large quantities of food, sometimes in secret, while battling feelings of shame and distress.

Signs of binge eating disorder

Signs and symptoms of binge eating can include:

  • not being able to stop eating when full
  • eating quickly
  • eating in secret
  • changes in behaviour
  • storing food supplies
  • feeling guilty or ashamed
  • weight gain.
