What are Family Hubs?
Family Hubs prioritise 'access, connection and relationship' ensuring all families with children aged 0-19 years (and to 25 years with special educational needs and disabilities) can access support in local, welcoming and non-stigmatising environment.
Family Hubs connect families with support, services and activities in the local Family Hubs network, based in the community. This includes council services, health, education, police, local charities and businesses, and more.
Family Hubs take a whole family approach, helping families overcome challenges so that children can thrive.
How are Family Hubs being implemented?
Family Hubs is a policy which has gathered momentum in the last 20+ years. In 2022-25, the government committed over £300m to Family Hubs, Start for Life and related services.
Now over half of England's local authorities have Family Hubs. In the 2024 October budget, the government announced a further £69m to sustain existing Family Hubs for a further 12 months and, in January 2025, a further £57m for the continuation of Start for Life services in 2025-26. Further investment is likely to be announced in the 2025 Spending Review.
