What's been happening at Spurgeons this Christmas?
Across many areas of the UK our dedicated staff have been working with families to make their Christmas a little brighter.
Here is a round up of all the ways that our services have been supporting families in December this year
Festive Fun Days in West Wiltshire Libraries
Children were able to meet Santa in Warminster Library and received a present, as part of a festive fun day.
Festive Fun in the Libraries are happening 5 days in a row, across each Library in West Wiltshire. Warminster, Westbury, Trowbridge, Melksham and Bradford on Avon.
Christmas 2023 in the Visitors Centre at HMP Winchester
The Invisible Walls volunteers were invited into the visitors centre for a festive afternoon where we shared festive treats and took part in a Christmas quiz.
The volunteers play a vital part of our service so this was a small gesture to show our appreciation of all their hard work, commitment and dedication.
Christmas Club4 at Elmbridge
The team at Elmbridge delivered Club4 at the Xcel Leisure centre, where they played games, danced, ate pizza, met Santa, and the children received amazing gifts.
They also received a Brite box with a yummy meal and a fun activity pack for the next day. It was a great way to celebrate Christmas with Club4!
Birmingham Young Carers had their family Christmas party
The Birmingham Young Carers team had a blast at their family Christmas party, thanks to the generous gifts from Mission Christmas.
The children enjoyed making a range of Christmas crafts and indulging in delicious treats.
Christmas hampers for families in Trowbridge
Through donations of Christmas themed food from Sainsburys and selection boxes from Asda, the West Wiltshire team put together 20 Christmas hampers for families in Trowbridge.
The hampers were put together by our staff members, Carl Houghton and Lily Guppy.
Christmas crafts at HMP Winchester
Spurgeons held Christmas craft workshops for dads at HMP Winchester to make Christmas-themed crafts to either hand out to their children on the December family day or post home in time for Christmas.
We had 15 dads from the resettlement unit take part and all worked hard to create something festive to brighten their child’s day.
The preschools team attended a Christmas fun day
Our preschools team attended the Jubilee Community Church Christmas fun day for local families.
Spurgeons is partnered with JCC to provide parent support and counselling. What's more, we now have Little Lambs, our latest addition to the Spurgeons preschools and nursery family, onsite too.
Wiltshire donations for families
Melksham Food Bank enabled the team in Wiltshire to assemble food parcels for families this Christmas.
What's more, TribePT in Trowbridge, also donated toys and crackers for our children's centres. We are grateful for their kindness and generosity this Christmas.
From everyone here at Spurgeons, we wish you Merry Christmas!
