Chris joined the Board of Trustees in 2020. He is a retired primary school headteacher who has been in the teaching profession for 33 years having qualified with an education degree through Bath University.
For the last 20 years, Chris was a headteacher gaining experience in leadership and management of two church schools in the state sector. This included leading on teaching, learning, curriculum, staff development, appraisal, safeguarding and governance. Among the many challenges facing schools, Chris found that support and intervention strategies for vulnerable children and their families were often the key to educational progress, enabling children to reach their full potential. It is this that drew him towards the work of Spurgeons as a Christian charity working to support the needs of children and families.
Chris is married, has two daughters and sons-in-law and a grandson. He is a member of Central Baptist Church in Chelmsford where he has served on the Leadership Team and leads worship regularly.
