Nicky Rayner

Nicky joined the Board of Trustees in 2020. Nicky has many years’ experience working within the children’s sector within local government and has spent most of her working life working with vulnerable children and their families in a variety of roles, moving, after 15 years as a front line Social Worker and Team Manager, to be Service Manager for Disabled Children’s Services at Oxfordshire County Council. Since the turn of the century, Nicky led a multiagency 0-19 services development team in Slough, where she moved on to be Assistant Director for Children and Families, before becoming the Divisional Director for Families in the London Borough of Newham. Most recently, Nicky managed Milton Keynes Council’s Children’s Services, before retiring and using her social work and management experience in voluntary work with her local church, school and Christian children’s charities.

Nicky is looking forward to bringing the skills she has acquired throughout her working life to Spurgeon’s Children’s Charity. Her desire to continue to support vulnerable children drew her to the role as Trustee, as did the charity’s Christian basis. Nicky particularly welcomes the opportunity to merge her professional skills with her Christian faith as a member on the Spurgeon’s Board of Trustees.
