Our programmes - Elmbridge Family Centres
Spurgeons deliver a range of courses and programmes to support parents and carers of children aged 0 to 11 living in Elmbridge. On this page you can find out more about the family support programmes we can provide. All courses require booking.
Due to Covid-19 some services we usually provide have been suspended but we are finding safe ways to continue to provide support to families across Elmbridge during this time.
Our Family Support programmes are delivered by our dedicated team of experienced Family Support Workers and our partners who have a wide range of knowledge and experience.
These can be delivered in the Family Centre or at community venues across Elmbridge. Booking is required for all courses.
Programmes we deliver include:

Parenting Puzzle - The nurturing programme
The Parenting Puzzle Nurturing Programme is a 10-week course that encourages and supports parents and carers to enjoy bringing up children of all ages and to get the best out of family life.
It offers positive, practical ways of guiding children so they learn to handle both their feelings and their behaviour. These sessions are informal, fun and a great confidence booster.

The Freedom Programme
The Freedom Programme is a support group designed for women who are or have been in a controlling relationship.
The programme is designed as an intervention to empower women to make positive choices about their lives by providing information and support within a group context.
It also explores the impact & effect on victims and their children, warning signs and what constitutes a ‘healthy’ relationship. It provides the opportunity to explore these issues in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental forum.

You and Me, Mum
‘You and Me, Mum’ is a 10-week course developed by Women’s Aid. It aims to empower and support survivors in furthering their understanding of their role as mothers and in addressing the needs of children and young people who have lived with domestic abuse.
Note: This course is not designed for families where the primary perpetrator of domestic abuse is still in the family home. This is because changes in mothers’ behaviours due to learning from attending the course might increase the risk of domestic abuse to themselves and to their children.
Other courses available:
We also provide access to courses covering:
- Budgeting and money management
- Challenging behaviour parenting courses
- Healthy eating
- Teenage parenting courses
