What is a stress bucket?

We all experience stress to varying degrees, and although everyday worries such as bills, work, home and finances can often make us feel stressed and overwhelmed, we all respond differently. This can sometimes depend upon the other stresses we carry around with us. This is where the stress bucket comes in!

In this stress bucket worksheet, you will be able to visualise the individual stresses you are carrying around with you as clouds that fill your bucket with rain. Then you can identify ways you can effectively release the pressure around these individual stresses by letting some of that water out. Sometimes, these can be simple things that you enjoy or things you can do to manage uncomfortable feelings.

Simply download our stress bucket worksheet below and begin looking at ways you can relieve the stress you are experiencing.

How do I use the stress bucket worksheet?

This stress bucket worksheet is printable and easy to use. By visualising the stresses you carry around as a bucket of water, you can pinpoint what is causing you stress currently, and how you can reduce those feelings of overwhelm.

Simply jot down the key things that are causing stress in the rain clouds situated above the bucket and then identify ways that you can release the water from the bottom, where you can record positive strategies and techniques to help you manage those feelings.

This kind of self-reflection encourages us to become aware of what is causing us to feel overwhelmed and stressed whilst taking a proactive approach to finding ways to relax and find a sense of calm.

Why use the stress bucket worksheet?

It's important to note that not all stress is negative. Stress can also drive us, improve our concentration and awareness as well as help us to learn new things and retain information. It is only when the combination of short-and-long-term stress becomes unmanageable and causes overwhelm that it becomes unhealthy.

By using the stress bucket model, you can measure your stress levels and find ways to reduce the negative impact of stress.
